International Student Admission

International students on visas are not eligible to enroll as provisional or non-matriculated students.

International applicants must submit the following documents:

  • The University of Utah Application for Admissions For all Undergraduate Applicants. Students are encouraged to apply online for quick processing.

  • A Non refundable $55 processing fee (Subject to change).

  • A minimum score of 500 (173 on computer-based exam or 61 on new iBT exam ) or better on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) for applicants whose first language is not English (Minimum TOEFL requirement subject to change).

    (a) . The official TOEFL score should not be over two years old and should be sent directly to the Admissions Office by Educational Testing Service.

    (b) . It's the right of the University to request additional English training if any university official feels its necessary. Such students will be directed to the English Language Institute or the Linguistics Department. Regular academic schooling may be adjourned until the required level of English proficiency is achieved.

  • Official transcripts, mark sheets, and school records including diplomas and certificates of completion or graduation from all secondary schools, colleges, or universities attended.

    (a) . School records must be sent directly from the school attended to the University of Utah Admissions Office.

    (b) . School records must be presented in the original language, accompanied by an official English translation.

    (c) . Translations must be literal and complete.

    (d) . School records must be submitted on an official school document and list the name and address of the school, the dates enrolled, grading system, description of each subject, and marks or grades earned in each subject or examination.


    Transcripts submitted for admission turn into University's belongings and will not be returned to the applicant. If the student fails to list all institutions previously attended, it may result in loss of credit and/or dismissal from the university.


  • Students requesting for the I-20 certificate of eligibility need to fulfill the following requirements:

    (a) . Documents supporting the financial statements should be produced and it should show the minimum amount of money, in US dollars, required to cover the first year of tuition and living expenses which sums upto about $22,694.00 US dollars for an undergraduate. (Costs are subject to change.)

    (b) . If someone else provides the financial assistance then a sponsor statement will be required which should be signed by the sponsor declaring his commitment to serve financial assistance for the entire year.

    (c) . Transfer students have to produce their SEVIS identification number and the releasing date of their previous US College or University.

    (d) . A copy of the first page of your current passport or your national ID card is to be submitted.


  • When admitted to the Utah University , a transfer form has to be filled by the students who are currently on an I-20 certificate from another U.S. school. The International Admissions Office will mail this transfer form to the student on their acceptance.
